This process is also know as "Acid Etching". This method is a chemical reaction which permanently colors and alters the appearance of new or existing concrete.  Acid Stain gives concrete a mottled, variegated, marble like look. It creates beautiful colors on concrete, mostly earth tone browns, reddish browns and greens.

How does it work? Acid Stain is not a paint or coating agent, rather, it’s a coloring process involving a chemical reaction on a cementitious material. A solution made with water, acid and inorganic salts reacts with minerals already present in the concrete, the result of this reaction is color. It works very well on new or old concrete. Acid Stain is a very durable product if properly protected with sealer or wax, and it can be applied to both interiors and exteriors. Chemical staining will note fade or peel.

Where can I use it? Acid Stain can be applied to ANY concrete surface. Commercial: Galleries, restaurants and retail stores.  Residential: Basements, patios, driveways, pool decks and retaining walls.

Is this a new product? Although most people have only recently become aware of chemical staining, it has been used since the turn of the century. Frank Loyd Wright used it in his famous Ski Lodge in Sun Valley (Idaho).  These floors were  stained over 60 years ago and still look great today. Chemical staining is used extensively in Las Vegas, specifically in "Caesars Palace" retail mall area because of it's beauty and durability.

Easy to maintain: Stained concrete  is virtually maintenance free, for a care-free lifestyle— simply damp mop as needed. For spills use a damp mop with any neutral household cleaner and dry. Periodic re-waxing or resealing is recommended depending upon traffic. Periodic buffing with a high quality floor finish will restore luster.
